POKO

Welcome back to Poko,  the Gemini award winning preschool series about first steps and first friendships.   Poko is a fun-loving little guy who is busy discovering the world around him.  Together with his dog Minus, and his favorite stuffed monkey, Mr. Murphy, Poko has great adventures…  all around the house.  Poko  is a series about doing simple things that really aren’t so simple when you’re young. Each story features Poko confronting a childhood milestone, like kicking a soccer ball or learning to share his wading pool.  These are Mythic Quests for preschoolers.  Fortunately, Poko is well equipped to face new challenges. Anything Poko can imagine, he can draw with his magic finger. Then, with the words “Poko Pippity Pop!”  his drawings become real.    Minus, on the other hand, is not nearly so helpful. With his pink eraser nose, the dog delights in erasing Poko’s creations.   Minus has the uncanny ability to erase the most important part – a wagon wheel, or a door knob - just when Poko needs it the most.     The third character is Mr. Murphy, Poko’s stuffed monkey, favorite toy and constant companion. Mr. Murphy is brought along for every escapade.   While celebrating and encouraging a child’s imagination, Poko also introduces important life skills. With the support and guidance of the friendly Narrator, the series provides strategies for working through the sometimes overwhelming emotions, physical limitations, and other obstacles encountered on the rocky road to bedtime.
