This Hour Has 22 Minutes is an award-winning, record-breaking Canadian comedy show. During the 2011-12 season 22 Minutes continued to make front page news for its daring, ambush-style interviews and its savagely witty satire of Canadian politics. Loved by Canadians of all ages, 22 Minutes proudly contributes humour and insight to conversations at water-coolers across the country. The show continues to contribute significantly to the Canadian comedy scene, witnessing its biggest audience in years in its 19th wildly successful season.
Launched originally in 1993, 22 Minutes focuses on Canadian current events by combining news parody, sketch comedy and spoof editorials. Politicians and celebrities frequently make guest appearances, some willingly, some unwillingly. No story is off limits, and no personality is too big for the 22 Minutes team to tackle.
The 19th season of 22 Minutes (September 2011-April 2012) featured anchors: Mark Critch, Cathy Jones, and Shaun Majumder, with guest performers Susan Kent and Meredith MacNeill, and with special appearances by Alan Thicke, Gordon Pinsent, Alan Hawco, Mary Walsh, and many others.
This Hour Has 22 Minutes is taped before a studio audience in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Recognized with over two dozen Gemini Awards, 11 Canadian Comedy Awards, and 4 Writer’s Guild Awards, 22 Minutes is produced by DHX Media. 22 Minutes airs on Tuesdays on CBC Television.
