Yamaska

The first season of Yamaska was dominated by bereavement, pain and loss of balance. Nearly all the main characters were experiencing major disruptions in their lives and having to swim in unfamiliar waters. The season might have been subtitled “starting from scratch,” as the main characters had to find the personal strength to start over on a new basis…and redefine their lives, no more, no less.

It’s an ongoing story of survival and resiliency in the lives of three families, still in pain but extremely courageous. The Harrisons, Brabants and Cartiers haven’t all experienced the emotional storm resulting from the sudden death of Lambert in entirely the same way. Some of them come together to find strength in unity. For others, grief and remorse have been too much to bear. Within each family, the dynamics are completely altered. Philippe is no longer the unshakable wheeler-dealer. Julie, the model career woman, has had to come down off her pedestal. William has lost his image as Mister Nice Guy, Théo ceases to play the juvenile delinquent, and Réjanne is finally having to face the blunt truth. The time has come for them all to make their choices.
